Former CJ Chunga turns down DPP Hajji’s appointment

Former Chief Justice Bernard Chunga has turned down a job offer from the DPP Noordin Hajji due to other commitments he has undertaken.

DPP Noordin Hajji had appointer the former CJ to chair a task force for the inspection unit through an official gazette notice last week.

Regretting to take the opportunity, Mr. Bernard Chunga cited to have pressing commitments elsewhere thus cannot undertake the appointment.

“Many thanks for appointing me as the chairman of the taskforce above named as per official Government Gazette of last week. However, due to pressing commitments I have undertaken elsewhere, I regret to advise that I will not be able to undertake the appointment.” Said Mr. Bernard Chunga

In a latter shared on Monday by lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi, the former CJ wished the taskforce the very best results in their endeavors.

Mr. Chunga’s announcement will delay the establishment of the task force for the operalisation of inspection unit by another 30 days.

The Internal Compliance Unit (ICU) will be tasked to formulate guidelines for inspection of the DPP operations, prepare and submit a recommendation to the DPP
