Parliament has been hit by a wave of panic after reports have emerged that 17 MPs have tested positive for COVID-19.
In an article published by the Star, an order from the Ministry of Health was sent to Speaker of both Houses to close business immediately.
This after 17 MPs and staff were confirmed to contracted coronavirus following a mass testing exercise conducted last week.
One Legislator confirmed to the Star that positive results from the tests conducted came in but it is not how many in number they are.
Since the exercise began last week, about 200 Members of Parliament and staff have been tested and the results sent to them individually.
The Ministry of Health however cannot their results to the public as it is forbidden by the law.
Speaking on the news was Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka who squashed it as rumors saying it’s impossible to know due to privacy taken by the Ministry.
He continued by saying it is only possible to know if an individual comes forward to reveal his or her results.
Lusaka further called on members of the press from spreading false information to the public during such times.
