5 die, 8 discharged as Kenya records 59 more coronavirus cases

Kenya has recorded an additional 59 cases of coronavirus found in 1,518 samples collected in the last 24 hours.

The samples brings the total number of samples collected in the country to date to 80,054.

“Today, we have 59 people testing positive for the virus from 1,518 samples, that were tested in the last 24 hours. The total case load in the country to date is 2,021, and samples tested since onset is 80,054.”

The highest county in the number of cases is Nairobi with 29, Mombasa 14, Turkana 6, Busia 4,Taita Taveta 2, Kajiado 2 as Kiambu and Kilifi recorded a case each.

The age gap between the new cases was 10-years of age and 76-years of age with the number of females being 24 and that of males being 35.

A total of 8 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours something that the Ministry of Health has taken into account the increasing number of those who have bravely fought the virus.

“Our number of recoveries continues to grow. Today, we discharged 8 patients who have recovered from the disease. This brings the total number of recoveries to 482. Our heartfelt appreciation goes to our healthcare workers who have made this possible.”

Five people from various facilities within Nairobi and Mombasa succumbed to teh virus raising the number of fatalities to 69.

“Our condolences & sympathies goes to the bereaved families & friends of 5 patients, who have succumbed to the disease from facilities in Mombasa & Nairobi. This number elevates our case fatality rate to 69.”
