5-year old boy dies of Ebola in Uganda

A young five-year old boy has died of Ebola in Uganda becoming the first case of the disease after making entry from the Democratic of Congo.

The boy is said to have arrived from Congo with his mother who had gone to nurse her father who died of Ebola.

Uganda has been on the alert since the outbreak as more than 2,000 related cases have been reported from the highly dangerous disease.

Uganda Ministry of Health in partnership with WHO have dispatched health workers to Kasese to identify other people who may have been affected by Ebola.

An experimental drug has also been administered to over 4,700 health workers in 165 facilities in order to protect them from the virus.

It is not the first time Uganda has been hit by the virus as in 2012 200 people were reported dead following its outbreak.
