Police have arrested one Archibald Kalela Mwandawiro in Wundanyi, Taita Taveta for suspected cyber espionage.
According to DCI they intercepted devices used by the 52-year-old suspect to intercept, access and transmission of messages to unauthorized people.
“52-Yr-Old Archibald Kalela Mwandawiro; a suspect of Cyber Espionage was today arrested by DCI Kenya SSU detectives at Milondo in Wundanyi-Taita Taveta County, where devices used in the interception, access &transmission of messages to unauthorized recipients were also recovered.

Acting on intelligence, detectives raided the suspect’s house where on conducting a thorough search therein found; >Two Global Systems for Mobile communications (GSM), one fitted with 512 simcards, >Four Internet Routers >a GSM Skyline inserted with 64 Safaricom simcards
>25 modems, >83 Airtel simcards, >76 Safaricom simcards, >An Electric Inverter, >a HP laptop and mobile handset among others.” Said DCI.
The detectives further confirmed that the suspect is a computer expert from a local university and has been using the information received to send to a country in the west.
“It has since been established that the widely traveled suspect is a computer science expert from a local university, who sends espionage materials to a country in the West. He is in custody as further investigations continue.” Said DCI
