A record 11,324 COVID-19 recoveries confirmed in Kenya

Kenya has on Thursday confirmed a record 11,324 COVID-19 recoveries in the last 24 hours as confirmed by the Ministry of Health.

The new recoveries bow bring to 67,788 the cumulative number of confirmed recoveries in the country.

“11,324 patients have recovered from the disease, 11,177 from the Home-Based Care Program, while 147 have been discharged from various hospitals. The total recoveries now stand at 67,788.”” Said MOH

The news comes at a time when the Ministry confirmed 1,253 new cases of the disease from 10,170 samples tested. This now brings to 86,383 the number of confirmed cases.

“Today, 1,253 people have tested positive for coronavirus, from a sample size of 10,170 tested in the last 24 hours, bringing to 86,383 the number of confirmed positive cases in the country.” Said MOH

Distribution of the new cases by counties is as follows; Nairobi, 326, Mombasa 143, Kilifi 105, Kiambu 86, Murang’a 67, Meru 45, Kirinyaga 43, Makueni 36, Migori 35, Embu 34, Laikipia 32, Nakuru 26, Machakos 25, Kitui 24 Taita Taveta 20, Bungoma 19, Siaya 18, Lamu 17, Nyeri 17, Uasin Gishu 14, Kajiado 13, Uasin Gishu 1, Kajiado 13, Garissa 13, Nandi 12, Kisumu 12, Tharaka Nithi 11, Bomet 11, Homa Bay 10, Busia 7, Kakamega 6, Kwale 6, Samaburu 6, Nyandarua 5, Kericho 4, Isiolo 3 and Turkana 2.

Unfortunately, the number of deaths hiked to 1,500 after 16 patients succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours.

“Sadly we have lost another 16 patients to the disease bringing the fatality to 1,500. Our sincere condolences to the families and friends of those who have lost their loved ones.” Said MOH
