Detectives from the special crime unit have arrested one administration police who is alleged to have been involved in the G4S theft.
The administration police identified as Constable Chris Ayienda was found in possession of Ksh 4 million as revealed by detectives.
Through the help of the suspect, detectives were led to another suspect’s house in Kendu Bay where Ksh 3million was recovered. The second suspect is also a police officer.
Also recovered in the second suspect’s house was a motor vehicle that was revealed to have been bought with the G4S theft proceeds.
Further investigations revealed that the two suspects were planning to flee to neighboring Uganda with the recovered cash.
The news comes barely a day after three more suspects were arrested yesterday arrested in Nairobi in connection to the ATM heist.
Also found during the raid was motor vehicle believed to have been used which had already been repainted from white to black.
At the moment the police are in hot pursuit of another suspect as the ones already arrested in custody pending to be arraigned in court.
Yesterday a Nairobi court ordered the detention of six G4S employees for seven more days as investigations continue.
It is not yet clear how two impersonators aided the transfer of cash to an ATM belonging to Slandered Chattered only to turn on them.
The impersonators who were armed stole the cash before transferring it to another car and fleeing the scene of the crime.
The amount in question is estimated to be around Ksh 72 million.
