On Tuesday a post-mortem was conducted on the body of slain athlete Agnes Tirop at Item County and Referral hospital.
According to the results, the young athlete succumbed to stab wounds to the neck and that she was also hit by a blunt object on the head.
Conducting the post-mortem was a government pathologist hand-in-hand with a private pathologist hired by the athlete’s family. Dr. Dorothy Njeru, the government pathologist addressed the media afterwards confirming the results.
Immediately after the exercise, the body of Tirop was prepared and taken to Eldoret ahead of her burial set for Saturday. The finding of the post-mortem will be shared with the court.

The news comes days after the court ordered Ibrahim Rotich the prime suspect in the murder of Agnes Tirop to be remanded in Eldoret ahead of the hearing.
Ibrahim was arrested in Changamwe, Mombasa as he attempted to flee the country as confirmed by DCI detectives.
“The prime suspect in the gruesome murder of 25-year-old world 5,000m record holder Agnes Tirop, has been arrested. Ibrahim Rotich, who was in a relationship with the athlete was arrested moments ago in Changamwe, Mombasa county, as he tried to flee to a neighboring country to evade justice.
Rotich is believed to have killed the two-time World Athletics championships bronze medallist,by stabbing her before going into hiding. Tirop’s lifeless body was found lying on her bed Wednesday morning in Iten, with visible stab wounds on her abdomen.
Earlier in the day at around noon, Rotich had rammed his getaway vehicle into a lorry at Athi River, along Mombasa road, as he desperately escaped out dragnet.The suspect is currently being grilled by detectives at Changamwe police station, for more details into the murder, before being arraigned to answer to murder charges.” Said DCi
