Alfred Mutua’s party blocked from leaving Azimio

Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua’s Maendeleo Chap Chap party has suffered a major blow after it was blocked from leaving Azimio One Kenya Coalition.

This follows an application by the party to exit the existing marriage that was struck out on grounds that they did not follow the right procedure when making the application.

The tribunal noted that the party should have first sorted the issue within the coalition before approaching them as the last option in such an incident.

The news comes barely a day after the Governor confirmed his move to Deputy President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza Alliance citing disagreement among parties allied to the coalition.

According to Mutua, plans by Azimio to zone areas ahead of the elections will block some candidates from vying in the elections. Mutua further cited secret changes made by the coalition in the signed agreement.

“On Monday, May 9th, 2022, the party will make a decision on the way forward bearing in mind the plans to zone our party aspirants out and the deadlines set by law.

We, MCC Party has been operating in good faith but this has not been reciprocated. There is clear and present danger that aspirants in parties in Azimio will be denied their democratic opportunity to be on the ballot. This we cannot accept.” Said Mutua

Welcoming Governor Mutua to the Alliance was Deputy President William Ruto who hit out at his political opponents for blackmailing politicians to join them.

“The people of Kenya have rejected blackmail, deceit and conmanship in our politics. Those who’ve taken our country hostage using patronage, force and impunity watajua hawajui na Wakenya hawapangwingwi.Karibu Gov Alfred Mutua & MCC party to Kenyan Kwanza family, the Hustler Nation.” Said DP Ruto
