The Kenya Kwanza Coalition has fronted former Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi as their candidate for the Senate Speaker position.
Revealing the news was former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar who has withdrawn his candidacy in support of President-Elect William Ruto’s agreement with the party.
“Following lengthy deliberations with H.E William Ruto and other Kenya Kwanza leaders yesterday, we agreed that H.E Amason Kingi is fronted as the Coalition’s candidate for Senate Speaker in keeping with the spirit of Coalition partnership.

I have no objection to this considering that this position was reserved for the Coast and hereby withdraw my candidature for Senate Speaker. I trust that all Senators will rally their support for my brother Kingi as the sole Kenya Kwanza candidate as so agreed upon by all of us, ” said Hassan Omar
Several elected and non-elected leaders have already picked the application forms for both the Speaker of the National Assembly and that of the Senate. Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is among the candidates for the National Assembly position.
