Amos Wako and family barred from US over corruption

Former Attorney General Amos Wako has been barred by the US government from entering the country in a statement issued on Monday.

Issuing the news was Michael Pompeo, the US Secretary of State who sited significant corruption committed by the former AG.

Also barred alongside Amos Wako was his wife Flora Ngaira and son Julius Wako.

The decision was stated as a sign that the US was in line with the Kenyan government in the fight against corruption.

Pompeo further said that for Kenya to succeed in economic growth, then the sources of corruption must be defeated.

He also promised to punish perpetrators of corruption.

The letter did not however indulge into much details but indicated that they have enough evidence to prove Wako’s involvement in significant corruption.
