Residents of an entire village in the south-western part of Tanzanian have started to be arrested following water pipe destruction.
The vandalism has seen regional police commander Albert Chalamila order the arrest of the entire village.
The residents are reported to have destroyed water facility worth $20,000. Masheya village lies on the slopes and do not have access to water supply, a reason why they destroyed the water facility.

According to Mr. Albert, the entire village should be held liable so as to prevent such occurrence in future. Among those arrested so far is among a village councilor.
Mr. Albert was also quoted saying that it is the responsibility of the residents to protect projects once done.
In the meantime the police have the right to make an arrest and hold the suspect for 48 hours before presenting them to the court.
