Anti-Corruption court probes former Machakos CEC’s wealth

A Nairobi Anti-Corruption Court has frozen accounts of former Machakos CEC Urbanus Wambua Musyoka totaling Ksh 11 million pending further investigations.

The orders follow investigations into the former County boss’s wealth that could not be accounted for between the years 2014 and 2021 as revealed before the court.

According to the prosecution team, the former CEC had traded with the County through businesses that he manages and had also failed to remit taxes totaling over Ksh 100 million during the period under investigation.

The court was also informed that Mr. Urbanus Wambua Musyoka was awarded tenders worth Ksh 531 million and also bought properties and lands valued at over Ksh 100 million in the same period.

Among the assets include a twp of his cars and a bank account under his name at Equity bank. The items are said to value over Ksh 11 million and are in sharp contrast to the income he had.

The case will be heard again next week on Thursday pending further direction from the court.
