Arsenal beat 10 man Watford to climb to the fourth position

Arsenal scored a solitary goal against 10 man Watford to climb to the fourth position in the English Premier League on Monday.

Arsenal was gifted the only goal of the match in the 10th minute when goalkeeper Ben Foster took too long to clear a back pass that was intercepted by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Watford was down to ten men a minute later when captain Deeney threw his forearm on the face Lucas Torreira in a late challenge.

Bernd Leno gave a number of excellent saves in the second half when Watford come strong on the Gunners. The host hit the post through Adam Masina following his distance shot.

Arsenal keeper Bernd Leno was rounded with ten minutes to go but winger Ainsley Maitland-Niles produced a crucial block of the game.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan came close to score for the visitors through a close-range volley but it was well saved by Foster.

Chelsea who was beaten by League leaders Liverpool stands at fifth position two points above Manchester United.

Watford lost a chance to climb to the seventh position when they faced Arsenal and now lie in 10th position level on points with Everton who were beaten by Fulham over the weekend.
