Arsenal will miss the services of Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the UEFA Europa League final against Chelsea as announced by the club.
Arsenal explains how they have thoroughly explored all options Micki to be part of the squad but after discussing with Micki and his family they both agreed he will not be travelling.
“We have thoroughly explored all the options for Micki to be part of the squad but after discussing this with Micki and his family we have collectively agreed he will not be in our travelling party.”
The Gunners have also written to UEFA to express their deep concerns over the issue as Mkjutaryan has been a key figure in the team’s success throughout the campaign.
“We have written to Uefa expressing our deep concerns about this situation. Micki has been a key player in our run to the final so this is a big loss for us from a team perspective.”
The club is also disappointed that he will miss a major European final in circumstances such as this something that is rare in a footballer’s career.
Mkhitaryan will, however, be part of Arsenal preparation until when they depart to Baku at the weekend.
