The news will be a blow for coach Mikel Arteta who had entrusted the Egyptian with midfield duties recently as they pair with newly signed Thomas Partey.
Last season, Mohamed Elneny was in Turkey before returning back to Arsenal with his performance impressing Arteta giving him more play time.
Salah who is still in Egypt is expected to stay in isolation until the doctors confirm negative results before releasing him.
