Embakasi MP Babu Owino has on Saturday opened up about seeking to chair IEBC citing the delays experienced by the commission.
The vocal lawmaker was speaking during the burial of Zablon Owino, former Ndhiwa MP when he made the declaration.
Speaking at the function, Hon. Babu addressed ODM party leader Raila Odinga to support his quest to chair IEBC and ensure a smooth follow up of the BBI exercise.
- Uhuru and Raila’s BBI signatures missing from IEBC list
- Kalonzo Musyoka visits DCI offices over Yatta land ownership
- Talai elders crown Gideon Moi as Kalenjin elder
The news comes at a time when the commission published a total of 1.3 million signatures which had been verified after the collection exercise was done.
They further called out Kenyans to check the register and ensure they contact them incase they see their name when they did not take place at all.
The remarks caused uproar among DP William Ruto allies who questioned the whole exercise seeking to understand if the procedure were being done in a fair manner.
IEBC itself confirmed having omitted signatures of President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM party leader Raila Odinga during the verification process.
In their defense, they noted how the process was ongoing at the Bomas of Kenya and that all signatures will be made available for verification by the public.
Other points of corrections include duplicate ID numbers in the document which the commission promised to work on.
