Barcelona apologize to Junior and Real Betis

La Liga giants Barcelona have sent their heartfelt apology to Real Betis and Junior over a tweet they sent on Sunday.

In the tweet, Barcelona was quoted saying Junor Knows ahead of their clash with Real Betis which ended 5-2 in favor of the Catalans.

The tweet had nothing personal but it was indeed a joke at the player’s nose and to taunt Real Betis ahead of their match.

“@FCBarcelona wish to sincerely apologize for any offense caused to Real Betis and their supporters regarding a tweet sent out on Sunday evening. No disrespect was intended, but we were wrong to publish it on a night that was very special for Junior.”

Junior Firpo joined the La Liga giants in August from Betis at a fee of around 18 million Euros and was handed a five-year contract.

In their match at Camp Nou, Betis took the lead following an impressive counter-attack but new signing Griezman leveled things up from a tap in.

The former Atletico Madrid player doubled the lead for Messi led side before Jordi Alba and Arturo Vidal added three more goals making it five.

Striker Luiz Suarez and Lionel Messi watched from the stands as they were unable to play.

In other results of the day, Atletico Madrid scored a solitary goal away to Leganes on Sunday.

Alaves held Espanyol at home to share the spoils in one of their best starts of the season.

Sevilla leads the table having won two of its matches, two points ahead of Real Madrid who were held in their second match.

Real Betis lie at the bottom of the table having lost all its two matches same to Leganes.
