Baringo Deputy Governor Charles Kipng’ok collapsed and died on Wednesday evening at JKIA as he prepared to leave for Mombasa.
In a statement issued by Kenya Airways, the airline confirmed a passenger developed breathing complications before he was confirmed dead by JKIA medical personnel.
“Kenya Airways PLC(KQ) regrets to announce that a passenger developed breathing difficulties this evening while boarding KQ612 that was scheduled to depart for Mombasa at 1900hrs.

The passenger was confirmed dead by medical personnel at JKIA while the aircraft was still on ground. The JKIA health and security agencies are currently handling the issue.” Said Kenya Airways.
At the time of his death, Hon. Charles Kipng’ok was heading to Mombasa to attend the Council of Governor’s meeting.
Mourning the Deputy Governor was President William Ruto who termed his death as big blow to the people of Baringo and those tea sub-sector which exceled during his leadership.
“The sudden death of my friend Charles Kipng’ok is a big blow not only to his family, friends, Government and residents of Baringo County but to the entire country, especially the tea sub-sector where he excelled for decades before recently opting for elective politics,” said Ruto
