The family of the late former President of Tanzania Benjamin Mkapa revealed that he died of cardiac arrest.
According to the family spokesperson, the former President was taken to hospital and admitted on Wednesday where he was being treated for Malaria.
His condition is reported to have improved and even followed live nominations and news on Thursday night before he was confirmed to have passed from cardiac arrest.

“The late Mkapa was not feeling well and was taken to the hospital where he was diagnosed with Malaria and resumed treatment before he was admitted on Wednesday.
On Thursday his was very okay and even took time to watch the live CCM nominations.At night he also watched the news and when he wanted to sit after standing up, he tilted his head before the doctors confirmed that he had died of cardic arrest.”Said the family.
The family continued by saying that the decision to reveal the cause was a result of many people on social media writing wrong information about the former president.
“The former President Benjamin Mkapa died of cardiac arrest, we have the action to reveal as many people on social media become a prophet.” Said the family
Also confirming the death was President John Magufuli who said the late Benjamin Mkapa died at a hospital in Dar es Salaam.
A church service was conducted on Sunday at Uhuru Stadium where his body will lay on state for three days pending his burial on Wednesday, 29th July.
