Former Tanzania President Benjamin Mtwapa has on Wednesday been laid to rest at his home village of Lupiso in Mtwara.

His burial comes after a three day mourning period marked in the country following President Magufuli declaration.

Magufuli was speaking as he addressed the country and the whole world on the sad news that had just befallen them.

He noted that he had passed away at hospital in Dar es Salaam without giving much details of what he had been suffering from.

It was during his memorial service at Uhuru Stadium where the family spokesperson revealed former President Benjamin Mkapa died of cardiac arrest.

According to the family, he had been taken ill and was receiving treatment of Malaria on Thursday.

His condition was getting better and was even following up on the current affairs of the country and it was on Friday when he just leaned back as he tried to seat back before he was confirmed dead.

The family revealed the reason as to why they made the revelation was due to the many false stories making rounds on social media.
