Businesswoman Joyce Akinyi arrested for drug trafficking

Police inNairobi West have arrested controversial businesswoman Joyce Akinyi for drugtrafficking.

During the Saturday raid at Joyce Akinyi’s house, police were able to find 2 kilograms of Heroin valued at Ksh 3 million.

Arrestedalongside the controversial businesswoman was a Congolese man who together weretaken to Muthaiga Police Station pending to be arraigned in court on Monday.

In 2015, businesswonan Joyce Akinyi who was then married to Nigerian Anthony Chinedu was arrested over alleged drug trafficking at a Nairobi hospital.

Her thenhusband was later deported by the Kenyan government.

In 2013,Joyce Akinyi was arrested in connection to drug trafficking alongside BudalangiMP Raphael Wanjala.

They were later released after they claimed they were carrying maize flour imported from Tanzania.

In 2008,Wanjala and Akinyi were detained in New Delhi after India authorities foundthem with undeclared Ksh 7.6 million.

New Delhiauthority was at the time investigating if the cash was proceeds of drug trafficking.

Luckily,they were released following government intervention.
