Collapsed Ruaka building owner to face murder charges

Jennifer Kamau, the owner of the collapsed Ruaka building that claimed the lives of two people is set to face murder charges.

This follows her dramatic arrest at the airport on Tuesday morning as she attempted to fly out of the country just days after the building collapsed.

“In the Ruaka case where 2 people lost their lives, the owner of the building Jenniffer Kamau, who was arrested as she fled the country will answer to the offences of Criminal Negligence and Murder, contrary section 203 as read with Section 204 of the Penal Code.” Said DCI

A total of six suspects have been arrested by the police in connection with the collapsed building in Ruaka. Four of the suspects are employees of Kiambu County government in the planning department.

“Following the collapse of two buildings in Kiambu county, detectives based in Kiambu have finalized investigations into the incidents and shall be arraigning a total of six suspects in court.

Four Kiambu County government officials from the planning department shall also face similar charges at the Kiambu Law Courts, tomorrow morning.

Meanwhile, Stephen Ngaruiya, the owner of the building that collapsed today morning shall appear at the Ruiru Law courts for the offence of constructing a building without requisite approvals.” Said DCI
