Counterfeit cigarettes worth Ksh 18 million have been confiscated by detectives at Kenyatta Market in Kilimani.
The goods were intercepted by the detective’s thanks to a tip-off that led them to a Mitsubishi Canter that has 182 cartons in it.
Four suspects were arrested during the raid as the police reveal one suspect of Chinese nationality is being sought after.
The four arrested are namely are Paul Njoroge, Kefa Onyino, Joseph Kariuki and John Wainaina. They are set to be arraigned in court on Monday.
“Over Ksh.18 Million worth of Counterfeit Cigarettes were yesterday Seized at Kenyatta Market in Kilimani & Four Suspects found supplying them arrested.
Tipped-off by the Public, Detectives intercepted a Mitsubishi Canter & upon search found 182 Cartons each containing 50 packets of the cigarettes christened Golden Deer King Size.
One other Chinese suspect being sought as Paul Njoroge, Kefa Onyino, Joseph Kariuki & John Wainaina pending arraignment on 25th November 2019. Exhibits secured & the lorry detained.”
Detectives fatally injure two gangsters

Detectives from the DCI fatally injured two suspects at the intersection of Ukwala road and Mwatate Lane.
The gangsters are said to have defied a surrender order as they engaged the police in a fierce shootout leading to the injuries.
Two others are reported to have escaped as a Ceska pistol with twelve rounds of ammunition and masks were recovered.
