The High Court of Kakamega has dismissed a petition challenging the academic qualification of County Senator Cleophas Malala.
According to the Judge Paul John Otieno, the case filed by one Fred Muka Franklin lacked merit and thus the Senator is clear to vie for Kakamega Governor’s seat in the coming election.
The Kenya Kwanza Alliance candidate will battle it out with Fernandes Barasa to succeed the incumbent Governor Wycliffe Oparanya whose term comes to an end in August.

Malala now joins the likes of fellow Senator and Kenya Kwanza candidate for the Nairobi Governor’s seat Johnson Sakaja who was also cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission (IEBC) Dispute Tribunal to vie for the seat.
This is after it emerged allegations that his degree certificate from Team University was forged even after he had been cleared by the Commission of University Education (CUE).
CUE later on revoked his clearance prompting pending investigation to be conducted by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) under the orders of George Kinoti. Kinoti noted that the Senator had links with an international ring conducting the illegal business.
