Milimani Court on Tuesday ruled that there was no marriage between Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi and his wife Maryanne Kitany.
This is after the court dismissed a divorce case filed by Aldai Member of Parliament Maryanne Kitany.
Passing the judgment was Chief Magistrate Heston Nyaga who noted that even though the two were married under customary laws, they however did not register the union as required under the Marriage Act of 2014.

“The customary law union allied to Maryanne Kitany would not suffice as a marriage under the laws of Kenya,” said the Judge.
The Chief Magistrate continued by confirming that the court was aware the newly appointed CS was indeed in a monogamous marriage even though he was legally married to Mercy Kiamenyi.
According to the MP, the two have been in a relationship since 2014, and Hon. Linturi had thrown her out of their matrimonial house. She claims they had undergone both the Meru and Nandi customary laws.
