DCI boss George Kinoti has been sentenced to four months in prison by a Nairobi High Court with the sentence set to be served at Kamiti Maximum Prison.
The ruling was made by Justice Anthony Mrima who also ordered for his arrest for failing to obey court orders.
In addition to contempt of court, the DCI was also found guilty of failing to return a firearm confiscated from Nairobi businessman Jimmy Wanjigi.

According to Justice Anthony Mrima, Kinoti has seven days to surrender and begin his sentence at Kamiti Maximum Prison or risk being arrested and forced to serve his sentence.
In 2019, DCI detectives confiscated guns belonging to businessman Jimmy Wanjigi before the court found insufficient evidence to further hold the weapons but to return them.
In February, another order was issued to return the weapons but nothing was again done prompting the court to summon the DCI boss who failed to show up.
According to the court, Wanjigi had all the necessary documents to prove ownership and that the guns was wrongly taken away from him.
