COVID-19: Kenya records 23 deaths and 166 new cases

Kenya has on Sunday confirmed 166 new cases of COVID-19 from 3,561 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

The cases which represent a positivity rate of 4.7% now push the cumulative number of confirmed cases and samples to 172,491 and 1,834,247 respectively.

In terms of distribution, Nairobi has 48 new cases, Uasin Gishu 21, Nyeri 18, Busia 17, Kisii 9, Nakuru 8, Kilifi 8, Meru 4, Narok 4, Siaya 4, Murang’a 3, Nandi 3, Trans Nzoia 3, Kirinyaga 3 Elgeyo Marakwet 2, Mombasa 2, Homa Bay 2, Kajiado 1, Kakamega 1, Kericho 1, Kiambu 1, Machakos 1, Mandera 1 and Migori 1.

On a positive note, 93 people recovered from the virus, 90 of them being reported from home-based care and 3 from various health facilities in the country. Cumulative recoveries now stand at 117,595.

Unfortunately, 23 patients have succumbed to the disease with all of them being late audits from various health facilities in the country. Cumulative number of deaths now stand at 3,287.

According to the Ministry if Health, 4,904 patients are currently under home-based care and 1,177 others are at various health facilities across the country.
