COVID-19: Kenya records 976 new cases and 10 deaths

The positivity rate in Kenya on Tuesday is 14.2% as the Ministry of Health confirmed 976 new cases from 6,896 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

The new cases and samples now push the cumulative number of cases and samples in the country to 198,935 and 2,103,997 respectively.

“Today 976 people have tested positive for the disease, from a sample size of 6,896 tested in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate is now 14.2%. Total confirmed positive cases are now 198,935 & cumulative tests so far conducted are 2,103,997.

In terms of distribution of the new cases by counties, Nairobi has 460 new cases, Mombasa 61, Kiambu 48, Makueni 43, Kilifi 39, Uasin Gishu 36, Nakuru 27,
Machakos 21, Siaya 19, Murang’a 18, Trans Nzoia 18, Nyandarua 16, Kitui 14, Migori 14, Kericho 13, Kirinyaga 12, Nyeri 12, Kajiado 11, Turkana 10, Kisumu 9, Busia 8, Taita Taveta 8, Embu 7, Garissa 7, Baringo 6, Narok 5, Laikipia 5, Nandi 5, Kakamega 4, Nyamira 4, Kisii 3, Bomet 2, Kwale 2, Mandera 2, Meru 2, Vihiga 1, Wajir 1, West Pokot 1, Elgeyo Marakwet 1 and Tana River 1.

Unfortunately, 10 patients have succumbed to the virus pushing the cumulative number of deaths in the country to 3,882. All deaths are late audit reports in the months of March, June and July 2021.

On a positive note, 969 patients have recovered from the virus pushing the cumulative number of recoveries in the country to 187,563. Out of the recoveries, 856 of them are from home-based care and 113 are from various health facilities in the country.
