The Ministry of Health through Health CAS Dr. Mercy Mwangangi has confirmed 139 new cases of COVID-19 from 1,774 samples tested.
CAS Mwangangi noted that the new cases bring the total number of confirmed infections to 37,218 since the first cases was confirmed.
The new cases comprise 125 Kenyans and the rest are foreigners with the youngest being 4-years and the oldest 82-years of age. 139 of them are males and 22 are females.

In terms of distribution per county, Nairobi has recorded 46 new cases, Kisumu 44, Mombasa 9, Kajiado 9, Kericho 9, Kiambu 9, Laikipia 4, Machakos 3, Nakuru 2 as Garissa, Kirinyaga, Kisii, Makueni, Embu, Meru and Turkana recorded a case each.
On a much positive note, 198 of the patients in the country have recovered in the past 24 hours bringing to 24,147 the number of recoveries in the country as at today. 152 of the recoveries are from various hospitals and 46 from home-based care.
Unfortunately, the number of fatalities shot up to 659 after nine new death cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours.
