Cristiano Ronaldo has asked to leave Manchester United

Cristiano Ronaldo has asked to leave Manchester United one year after his emotional return to Old Trafford according to multiple reports this evening.

The Portuguese icon reportedly told the Manchester club to let him depart once the right offer comes in as he also made clear of his desire to play in the Champions League.

Cristiano who wishes to play in the Champions League for the remainder of his career, scored 18 Premier League goals and 24 in all competitions in an underwhelming 2021/22 campaign for the Red Devils who struggled and finished sixth in the league.

Earlier last week, his agent Jorge Mendes met with Chelsea owner Todd Boehly and discussed a number of issues including a possible move for his client to Chelsea.

Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich refuted claims that they are interested in signing the 37-year old who is reluctant to continue with the Red Devils due to their lack of Champions League football this summer.

While this news will give new Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag a headache ahead of the new season, it is not yet known where Cristiano Ronaldo will play next season although reports say Italian giants Napoli are among the clubs interested in his services.

Manchester United have already agreed a deal with Feyernoord for the signature of left back Tyrell Malacia who will have a medical on Monday, and talks are also in progress with FC Barcelona for Frenkie De Jong and Dutch champions Ajax for Argentine international Lisandro Martinez.
