Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri has on Sunday come out to slam ODM leader Raila Odinga and other leaders.

Speaking from Nyeri, Hon. Kiunjuri said the allegation are pure witch-hunt and that those attacking him have no clue on the quantity of maize in the country.

He continued by saying that the leaders calling for his resignation come from maize growing regions of Western Kenya.

The decision of whether to import maize or not is a cabinet decision and that Kenyans will suffer the prices in a month’s time as revealed by the CS himself.

In defense of CS Kiunjuri was Laikipia Senator John Kinyua who said that the agriculture CS is doing his best to ensure maize prices remain affordable.

Also present was Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua who challenged President Uhuru Kenyatta to order the cabinet to issue a statement as to whether the maize stand was a government policy.

CS Mwangi Kiunjuri had last week clashed with the chairman of Strategic Reserve Food Board Mr. Noah Wekesa over the imports.

Leaders against the agriculture CS are demanding his resignation saying that he was sponsoring a coup against farmers so as to reward tenders.

On his part Mr. Noah Wekesa said that the country needs 2 million bags of maize contrary to CS Kiunjuri who said the country needs about 19 million bags.
