CS Matiang’i announces re-validation of driving schools

Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiang’i has announced re-validation of driving schools that will be completed by January 1st, 2021.

The CS was speaking as he launched the Usalama Barabarani Programme meant to educate boda boda operators on responsible road safety.

In order to achieve its objective, the government and the Ministry of Interior has promised to pump in more resources to educate road users.

“Dr. Fred Matiangi has announced that re-validation of driving schools will be completed by January 1, 2021, adding that GoK will pump more resources into training bodaboda operators on responsible road use to complement the Usalama Barabarani Programme that was launched today.” Said Ministry of Interior.

“Honored to launch Usalama Barabarani Programme, an initiative between GoK & our development partners from the European Union. The 3yrs Safe Roads Programme under NTSA Kenya aims to enhance traffic safety via projects that will lead to reduced fatalities” Said Dr. Fred Matiang’i

Pedestrians and the youth will also be sensitized on road safety as they make up the huge percentage of causalities.

“Nationwide sensitization & training will target majorly pedestrians, Bodaboda operators and the Youth whom statistics show make up a large percentage of casualties.” said Dr. Fred Matiang’i
