Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiang’i has on Monday met United Arab Emirates (UAE) President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed.
The CS delivered a special message from President Uhuru Kenyatta as he held discussions with Deputy Prime Minister Lt Gen Sheikh Saif bin Zayed and Ministry of Interior to UAE.
“The Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government Dr Fred Matiang’i yesterday delivered a special message from HE President Uhuru Kenyatta to the President of the United Arab Emirates His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed.” Said Interior Ministry

The focus of their discussion was the security collaboration between the two countries and possible easing of Visa restrictions for Kenyans traveling to the UAE following the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The focus of their bilateral discussions were closer security sector collaboration between the UAE and Kenya and possible easing of VISA restrictions for Kenyans travelling to the UAE in the wake of the COVID 19 pandemic.” Said Interior Ministry.
The news comes four months after UAE slapped Kenya with Visa restrictions citing the pandemic and rising number of cases as the reason.
Several other countries including Pakistan, Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Somalia, Yemen and Libya were also slapped with the ban which was meant to affect those applying Visa for the first time.
