Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Dr. Fred Matiang’i has on Tuesday met Qatar Prime Minister and fellow Interior Minister Sheikh Khalid Bin Khalifa Bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani over visa restrictions.
“Today, I had the distinct pleasure of meeting His Excellency Sheikh Khalid Bin Khalifa Bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani, the Prime Minister & Minister for Interior of the State of Qatar at his Office in Doha.” Said CS Matiang’i.
The two leaders met in Qatar as they held talks on a number of key issues including the COVID-19 pandemic that saw the country slapped with visa restrictions over the cases.

Also discussed was security concerns that is said will pave way for other key issues including labour and agriculture among others.
“We held fruitful deliberations & concluded an agreement on deeper security sector collaboration btw our two nations & modalities of easing VISA restrictions for Kenyans travelling to Qatar in the wake of the COVID 19 pandemic.The meeting also paved way for further engagements on matters of mutual national interest such as labour, agriculture & trade.” Said CS Matiang’i.
The meeting comes barely a week after the Interior CS met United Arab Emirates (UAE) President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed over the same restrictions.
““The Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government Dr Fred Matiang’i yesterday delivered a special message from HE President Uhuru Kenyatta to the President of the United Arab Emirates His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed.
The focus of their bilateral discussions were closer security sector collaboration between the UAE and Kenya and possible easing of VISA restrictions for Kenyans travelling to the UAE in the wake of the COVID 19 pandemic.” Said Interior Ministry
