David Luiz header in the 9th minute was the only goal that sunk Bournemouth and ensured Arsenal walked away with three points.
Former Lille strike Nicholas Pepe took a corner in the ninth minute and was comfortably directed to the far end of the goal. It was David Luiz’s first goal for Arsenal.
Bournemouth response did not threaten Leno who with ease collected all attempts made by the visitors.
Callum Wilson came close to score in the second half but it was stopped with ease by Leno.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was about to increase his goal tally but his effort came off the post.
During the extra time, Matteo Guendouzi blocked Joshua King from having his low ball past the net as it was collected by the Gunners keeper.

The win takes Unai Emery to third position with 15 points, a point above Leicester and Chelsea and a point short of second placed Manchester City.
Bournemouth settled at position ten with 11 points, two points above Manchester United who lie in position twelve.
Unai Emery Is a happy manager as clubs take an international break this week. They have recorded back to back wins including a win in the Europa League.
Speaking after the match, Emery praised his said for creating chances and also defending very well not to concead any goal.
In regard to his choice of younger players, he said they are currently playing very well and as management they are relaxed watching them.
