RB Leipzig center back Dayot Upamecano has agreed to join Bayern Munich as revealed by leading sports journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Upamecano is reported to have been approach by a number of clubs including Chelsea and Liverpool but he was satisfied with Bayern Munich terms.
The five year contract will run until 2026 and the Bundesliga giants will pay his release clause next month.

“Upamecano received more than one approach from Chelsea, Liverpool were planning for a move in the summer. But he’s joining Bayern Münich [until 2026] because they immediately satisfied his requests. Deal to be signed in the next months, when Bayern will pay the release clause.” Said Fabrizio Romano.
Word had it that Manchester United were also in the race to sign the center back only to be revealed that they have never contacted him or his agent.
“Manchester United have never been in advanced talks to sign Upamecano – always been appreciated but ‘unlikely’. He’s the main target for Bayern Münich prepared to pay the release clause, Chelsea and Liverpool are still in the race. Also PSG interest now cooled down.” Said Fabrizio
Bayern Munich have been for months ready to pay his release clause of 42.5 million Euros before his manager confirmed how happy they were to have reached an agreement.
“Salihamidzic just confirmed to Bild that Dayot Upamecano has reached an agreement with Bayern Münich on personal terms: “I can confirm, we’re very happy!”
The deal will be signed and completed in the coming months, when the release clause [€42.5m] will be paid to RB Leipzig.” Said Fabrizio
