DCI impound two vehicles for evading tax

The Directorate of Criminal Instigation (DCI) has on Saturday confiscated two vehicles that are said to have evaded duty.

The two cars belonging to Ms. Cynthia Wanjiru Gitonga and Mr. John Mwangi were declared semi-trailer to evade duty through an organized scheme that says they were manufactured at a fictitious company in Mombasa.

“Detectives yesterday confiscated two vehicles- one belonging to Ms. Cynthia Wanjiru Gitonga & another to Mr. John Mwangi. The vehicles were declared semi-trailers hence evaded duty through an organized scheme that claims they were manufactured at a fictitious company in Mombasa.” Said DCI

On Wednesday the DCI raided a Godown with Mombasa Road acting on a tip and recovered several contraband goods including Tobacco, Hot pots, Cosmetics, and Copper rods.

“Flying Squad Detectives-following information, today afternoon raided WallStreet Godown within Mombasa Road and recovered several suspected contraband goods-Tobacco, Hot pots, Cosmetics, and Copper rods.” Said DCI

Three County Public Health officials have been summoned over the issued and have recorded a statement.
