DCI officers nab a police officer demanding a bribe

A police officer attached to Kamukunji police station has been arrested by DCI detectives as he demanded a bribe to release an employee of Kenya Treasury.

Corporal Daniel Arimba Rioba demanded Ksh 200,000 from the employee of Kenya Treasury to secure his release who he claimed was under investigation.

” Corporal Daniel Arimba Rioba, @PoliceKE officer attached at #Kamukunji Police Station was yesterday arrested for demanding & receiving Ksh. 200,000 to secure the release of an employee of @KenyaTreasury whom they claimed was under investigations in #corruption related cases” Said DCI Kenya

Corporal Arimba who was together with another officer who managed to escape went further to arrest another businessman at the National Treasury building for the offense of forgery.

He then demanded Ksh 100,000 to secure his release only to be arrested as he waited for the amount in question.

“The said officer together with another who escaped, went further to arrest another businessman at the National Treasury Building on allegations of #forgery & demanded Ksh. 100,000 to secure his release. It was when they were waiting for the money that Corporal Rioba was arrested.”

Itis to that respect that DCI has advised members of the public to request a Certificateof Appointment (COA) whenever a person purporting to be from DCI comesknocking.

If you are still in doubt, you are advised to request the telephone number of their immediate boss to confirm their identity.
