Detectives in hot pursuit of thug targeting M-Pesa shops

Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI) detectives have launched a manhunt of one thug involved in the ongoing robbery of M-Pesa agents in Nairobi and its environs.

The thug captured in CCTV camera is reported to be a member of a criminal gang that terrorizes M-Pesa agents in the city leaving two agents dead on Saturday.

“Do you know this Ninja? He is one of the thugs targeting Mpesa shops in Nairobi and its environs. The thug is part of a wider armed and dangerous gang that staged an attack at Mpesa shops located at Adams market.

Two agents a man and a woman were shot dead in the Saturday incident. Kindly assist us in finding him and deliver justice to the families of the victims and many other Mpesa agents who continue to suffer in their hands.” Said DCI

Insecurity in the country

The news comes at a time when cases of insecurity in the country are on the rise involving heavily armed robbers.

On Sunday, six robbers were captured on camera attacking a woman in Nairobi’s Ongata Rongai area stealing her valuables and cash.

Four suspects have so far been arrested in connection with the incident including a M-Pesa agent who assisted to withdraw Ksh 240,000 sent from the victim of the attack.

More items including a pistol, clothes used by the thugs and household items were recovered by the police on Wednesday as they promised to bring all suspects to book.

“As Police Officers continue to work around the clock to investigate and bring to book all the thugs who robbed a family in Ongata Rongai, more recoveries have been made. In addition to earlier recoveries made, including one pistol and items of clothing, household electronic appliances have also been recovered.

We salute the officers involved in the operation for their diligence and commitment to the task. We also appreciate members of the public for cooperating with law enforcement in the course of investigations.” Said National Police Service
