The win took ensured that they were in holding the second position with 57 points, four points behind leagues Bayern Munich who also won in their Saturday fixture.

German international Mats Hummel was sent off in the middle of the game with a leg injury which seemed not to be serious.

This is because the club’s sport director Michael Zorc confirmed that the defender had been having some issues with the leg for sometime.

He revealed how optimistic he will recover on time and be available in their next fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt.

It was the second consecutive win for Borussia having thrashed Schalke 4-0 in their first fixture following a COVID-19 break.

Bundesliga matches resumed last week following an indefinite interruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Players have been warned and told to take every precaution during this period including minimal contact when celebrating.
