The office of Deputy President William Ruto has been accused of starving his security detail consisting of Administration Police of food.
The accusations has forced the Ministry of Interior affairs to intervene calling on the Deputy President’s office to feed the security personnel so as to enable them execute their duties effectively.
“This is to bring to your attention that the above officers have not been consistently provided with food rations or meal allowances to enable them to discharge their mandate effectively and efficiently.” Read the statement

According to the statement, the Interior Ministry noted that the previous security detail comprising of GSU officers was receiving the treatment and that the same should continue.
“This is in contrast to their counterparts from GSU whom they replaced and who used to get food rations The purpose of this letter, therefore, is to request that you reinstate the food rations for the officers currently deployed in the two residences for optimal service delivery,” Read the statement in parts
In August, DP William Ruto’s GSU security detail was withdrawn and replaced by Administration Police drawing heavy criticism from the government.
It was later confirmed that the Deputy President’s security detail was more than that offered to previous leaders in his position thus the reduction from 77 to 26 security personnel.
