EABL awards 22-year-old student 1 million for best logo

East African Breweries Limited (EABL) has rewarded a 22-year-old student from Multimedia University Ksh 1 million in the GOT skillz competition.

The competition organized by EABL was looking for its new logo inviting talented creative designers to showcase their talents.

The winner of the competition Elvis Otieno Atieno, a third-year student in the faculty of Film and Animation will not only bag the 1 million but his logo will be refined before it is used as the company’s logo.

In addition to that, he will receive mentorship skills by meeting East Africa’s most experienced creative designers through a mentorship program organized by Scan Group.

Elvis’ design was among the twenty out of 385 designs which made it to the last selection during the competition.

The runners up in the competition, John Kinyajui bagged Ksh 500,000 while third-placed team Wiptem Creators won Ksh 300,000.

In his design, Elvis included barley one of the many ingredients used in the preparation of alcoholic beverages.

In addition to that, the fonts were in a circle to represent unity adding purple to signify unity consumers have for the drink.

The judges in the competition had a tough time during the selection process as some designs were creative but were too simple. Others were complicated especially in the inner part of the logo.
