Education CS,police will track HELB defaulters

Education CS Amina Mohamed has on Wednesday vowed to do everything in her power to recover outstanding HELB loans.

The Education CS said it will be business unusual as the Higher Education Loan Board seeks to recover Ksh 7.2 billion from defaulters.

She further called out on employers to assist to recover the debts from employees who are working for them.

CS Amina Mohamed also promised that she will involve the police to track down the defaulters whose number currently stands at 74,000.

The news comes at a time when the president called out on cabinet secretaries to put more work in their dockets or risk being replaced.

Dr. Fred Matiang’I was called into action to monitor all government projects are going on as planned.

In a bid to keep the Cabinet secretaries in check, Dr. Fred Matiang’I convened a meeting where he requested weekly reports from each CS.

All CS’s were present including Education CS Amina mohammed.
