Kenyan ruling world champion Eliud Kipchoge was crowned the male athlete of the year 2019 for the second year in a row.
Kipchoge was awarded in Monaco during the annual gala to celebrate various athletes in the world.
The four time marathon champion made a mark in London clocking a personal time of 2:02:37.

In October he was in the Guinness world book of records when he run under two hours in Vienna in the INEOS 1:59 challenge.
Celebrated alongside Kipchoge was Colm O’Connell who bagged the trainer achievement for his tremendous work in the Kenyan athletes.
Woman athlete of the year
Dalilah Muhammad won the women athlete of the year following the impressive year she had in the 400m hurdles.
In a single year Dalilah was able to break two records one being in July when she finished at a time of 52:20 in US.
In 2019 again she broke her own record in Doha completing the hurdles at 52:16.
Rising star of the year
Selemon Berega of Ethiopia won the rising star of the year.
Beraga won a silver medal during the 5000 m world champions and fifth position during the senior race at Aarhus in 2019.
