Embu-Meru highway accident claims five lives

At least five people are feared dead as 26 others are reported to have sustained injuries when two matatus collided along the Embu-Meru highway.

The Thursday accident is reported to have occurred when the two matatus going in different directions collided at the Rupingazi bridge.

Police officers and residents arrived at the scene as they assisted to rescue those trapped in the vehicles.

The 26 passengers are reported to have sustained serious injuries and have been transferred to Embu level five hospital for treatment.

Motorists have been called upon to exercise caution during this period to ensure that lives are not lost.

The cause of the accident is yet to be known as many vehicles are in rush to ferry passengers during the festive season.
