Equitel has rolled out a new bundle that will see its customers get up to Ksh 2,500 per night insurance in case one is hospitalized.
To qualify under the new bundle, Equitel customers will have to purchase the bundle at Ksh 1,249 per month which will include 500 minutes talk time to all networks.
One can, however, get the Riziki cover for them and their family when they make a purchase of Ksh 2,499. The package includes 1,000 minutes of talk time across all networks.
A compensation of Ksh 2,500 per is eligible to customers and their families on any income lost when hospitalized.
The Rafiki cover is a joint initiative between Equity bank and Britam insurance who are the underwriters of the insurance.
Currently, the bank looks into increasing its current customer base from 280,126 with the new bundle.
Telecommunication competition
The news comes at a time when Safaricom rolled out bundles with no expiry.
The new innovation by Safaricom was after a suit was filed to enable customers to enjoy their data without interruptions.
Also included in the suit was approval to enable customers to transfer data without incurring any cost.
Telkom, on the other hand, had penned down a planned merger with Airtel that was to compete with Safaricom.
