Ethiopian Prime Minister scoops 2019 Nobel peace prize

Abiy Ahmed, Ethiopian Prime Minister has scooped the 2019 Nobel price.

The Ethiopian Prime Minister was named the winner on Friday following his efforts to restore peace between Ethiopia and Eritrea.

He will, however, be awarded in December in Oslo.

Abiy was honored to have brokered a peace deal between the two countries that have been at war for two years. The two countries came together in July.

The award attracted about 301 candidates many of the being individuals and seventy-eight being organizations.

The Nobel Peace is 100th one to be awarded and the winner will carry home 900,000 US dollars.

Other than brokering a deal between Ethiopia and Eritrea, Abiy Ahmed is well known for freeing opposition leaders held in prison.
