Faith Kipyegon has won the 1500m final at the World Athletics Champions in Oregon, USA giving Kenya its first gold medal in the competition.
Taking the lead from the beginning, Faith Kipyegon defended strong competition from Ethiopia and Great Britian who took silver and bronze respectively as she clocked a commanding 3:52:96 seconds victory in the race.

The win was the fourth medal for Kipyegon who also bagged gold back in 2017 in the same race. In Oregon, Gudaf Tsegay of Ethiopia came second in 3:54.52 seconds and Laura Muir of Britain came third finishing in 3:55.28 seconds.
Congratulating Kipyegon was the Deputy President who also congratulated fellow competitors participating in the World Athletics Championship.
