Family of five dies as vehicle is swept by floods in Kajiado

A family of five is reported dead when the vehicle they were traveling in was swept away by heavy floods in Kajiado County.

The five who include three children and two adults are reported to have traveled from Tanzania where they had attended a wedding.

A report by Citizen TV indicates that they spend the night at a relative in Namanga before proceeding with their journey.

Their bodies have since been transferred to Kajiado County Referral Hospital mortuary.

Police have called on motorists to exercise caution during this period as heavy rains pound various sections of the country.

The news follows that of 43 people who are reported dead in West Pokot following landslides in the area.

As of yesterday, 22 bodies had already been retrieved as various organizations combined forces to help in the exercise.

Roads were rendered impassible as the government called on residents to move to safer grounds.

Kapenguria County Hospital run out of space at the mortuary as they called their neighbors in Kitale to assist.

The number is expected to increase as bodies trapped in the sand are retrieved.
